The role and responsibilities of the SWOA Executive Committee are enshrined in the Constitution. It is elected at the Annual General Meeting each year and is responsible for managing the affairs of SWOA and to carry out the decisions of the Annual General Meeting and any other General Meeting. It is a requirement that minutes of meetings are kept, including the names of those present. The Committee must meet at least twice a year, though in practice meetings are held approximately every 2 months.
The Committee comprises of a Chair-person (who shall not serve more than 3 consecutive years), a Treasurer, a Fixtures Secretary, a Membership Secretary and an Administrative Secretary. The roles of Membership Secretary and Treasurer are often combined. In addition, up to 6 other members may be elected at the Annual General Meeting and each specialist affiliated club is allowed one Committee representative.
