All events in Britain are categorised and allocated a code comprising of a letter and number. The letter denotes the type of event and the number its status. For example, a 'C2' code represents a cross-country event (the 'C') of National standard (the '2').
These codes are used in fixtures lists to enable orienteers to quickly determine the type and status of events being staged. The following table is provided to help interpret these codes.
